Fall is in the Air (Finally!)

As the almost 100 degree temperatures begin to subside, I am so excited!

Fall is my favorite time of year. Maybe it's because of my almost 15 years on the East Coast, but there's something about the leaves changing, the feeling of crispness in the air, apple picking, the smell of spices (cinnamon, nutmeg), the need to wear pants and a sweater (I am so tired of wearing shorts and skirts!).

As Halloween nears and our decorating for it is complete (see the end of the post for one last project), I'm moving my sights on to the next big thing, fall. For me, the colors copper and gold completely embody the feeling of fall. And there are amazing pieces this time of year that are perfect for bringing "fall" into your home. There are so many great finds that it was hard to whittle it down to the top 12 (check out my Pinterest board "Feeling like Fall" for the full list):

I hope these pieces get you into the fall spirit and make you love your home that much more!

Do It Yourself

Over the weekend I was browsing Pinterest for any quick Halloween crafts to do with the girls, and came across a completely EASY one that looks fabulous - bats on branches!

I went to Beverly's Fabrics and bought branches for $5.99, three yards of black satin ribbon at $0.69 a yard and white puffy paint for around $2.00.

  1. Arrange branches in a vase (mine is glass, but I'd probably prefer something a little more "fall," I just don't have it at the moment)
  2. Cut the ribbon into approx. 4 inch lengths then tie in simple knots at varying places on the branches
  3. Make two dots on each knot with the puffy paint (for eyes)

Voila! You've got a super easy Halloween decoration that looks great! The only hard part, keeping the puffy paint away from two year old hands!
