A friend of mine is a wonderful wife, mother, and professional, but is self-admittedly clueless when it comes to decorating her house. Try as she might, it just never turns out the way she wants or imagines it to be. That's where I come in...
We're in the process of redecorating her living room in neutrals. She knows she's afraid of committing to too much color, so I'm trying to push her design envelope by introducing textures, pattern, grays, things she doesn't typically associate with neutral. I'm hoping to bring in accent furniture that has a winsome look, but that isn't too pricey so that if she wants to change things up it won't break the bank.
Here are some great things I found in my "neutral" search to help her at Joss & Main:
Great note on neutrals, they don't have to be cream or white! You can play up beige, brown, gray, even accents of black. Then layer with paint, textures, pattern, and don't forget lighting! And a splash of any color you love into the pillows, accessories, some framed artwork, add a little greenery with plants or flowers, and voila! You've got yourself a beautiful neutral room.
